BCCI have announced that Senior fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been given a rest from the Asia cup due to a back injury.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out from the Asia cup, which is supposed to be held in UAE in August. According to reports, Burmah has sustained a back injury, due to which his participation in the T20 tournament is under question as it will take time to heal.
While talking to PTI, a senior member of BCCI said, “Jasprit Bumrah has a back injury and will not play in the Asia cup. He is our main bowler, and we would like him to be back in action before the T20 world cup. We can’t risk him in the Asia cup, and the injury could aggravate.” on Bumrah’s condition of the injury.
Bumrah’s last presence in the Indian jersey came in July against England; since then, he has been rested. He was supposed to return for the Asia cup, but things are not looking possible. Moreover, just when everything was looking under the situation for men in blue, Bumrah’s injury has put a question mark on the Indian squad. However, young stars like Arshdeep Singh and Avesh khan have proved their talent and showed that in the absence of Bumrah, they could take over the command of the Indian fast bowling lineup.
Also, keeping in mind that Burmah has always been a star performer for team India, resting him for the Asia cup could favor the group. In addition, team India would want their key player to be available for the biggest stage, which is the T20 world cup.
The BCCI has announced the 15-man India squad for the upcoming Asia cup 2022. They will play Pakistan in their opening encounter on Sunday, 28 August, in Dubai, UAE. Bumrah’s absence might favor the Pakistanis; however, defending champions have a long line of attacks to face the Pak’s challenge. Moreover, former Indian captain Virat Kohli and LSG batter KL Rahul make a comeback after a while.
