For its whimsical tone and hard-hitting societal idea, Ranveer Singh’s latest film, “Jayeshbhai Jordaar,” has sparked quite a buzz on social media. We can see how versatile the actor Ranveer Singh is in films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Gully Boy, and his most recent release 83. And now he’s back with another one-of-a-kind character in a humorous social comedy about gender inequity and Indian families who prefer sons over daughters.
Yash Raj Films released a trailer for the new film Jayeshbhai Jordaar on Tuesday. Ranveer Singh plays Jayeshbhai, and Shalini Pandey plays his wife in the trailer. The film also stars Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah, who play the role of the actor’s parents.
Divyang Thakkar, makes his directorial debut with Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The film’s music is composed by Vishal–Shekhar and Amit Trivedi. It will be released in theatres on May 13th of this year.
The trailer opens with a young girl complaining to the sarpanch (Boman Irani) about the problem of alcoholism and eve teasing near schools, and asking an alcohol ban. His preposterous solution to the problem, on the other hand, is that in order to not provoke men, girls must stop using scented soaps. Even though he doesn’t agree, Ranveer Singh decides to nod along with every decision made by his father and an aggressive mother (played by Ratna Pathak Shah).
When Jayesh finds that his wife is expecting a child, the path of his activity’s changes (for the better). His family’s constant interruptions to abort the girl child forces him to flee. The rest of the film appears to be a big chase action in which Ranveer attempts to defend his family and unborn kid. Despite coming from such a background, he is portrayed to be a progressive man who does not share his father’s beliefs. Jayeshbhai would do anything to save his unborn daughter.
The actor goes on to say that he had a great time in the comedy playing the unusual role. “My character is quick-witted and has his heart in the right place. The script is remarkable. You don’t find such films every day. It is a celebration of human spirit that will fill you up from within.”
Singh hopes to question the image of a conventional hero with the upcoming social comedy, “Hopefully, Jayeshbhai will change the definition of heroism on screen, and leave people with an important message in the most entertaining and hilarious fashion. Here, the hero is the most innocent and honest person you have met in a long time.”
In a recent interview, Singh stated that he tries to avoid being typecast because he has so much to offer and that he tries to present to the audiences, new characters. “I have a personal ambition to never be typecast and it’s a tough one but I choose my scripts quite cleverly. Jayeshbhai Jordaar presented me with a huge opportunity to play a character with no reference point all over again. I think I really manifest these roles into my life,” he said.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar is being widely regarded as one of the most recent Hindi films, and Yash Raj Films surprised entertainment journalists throughout India by sending them a trailer launch invite in the form of “a scentless soap to express the aroma of the picture!” a day before the trailer’s release. This was in reference to a scene in the movie. It was also the opening shot of the trailer.
Apart from Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Ranveer has a number of exciting projects in the works, including Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus and Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which he will star in alongside Alia Bhatt.
