Jennie, a member of BLACKPINK has been invited to star in HBO’s series/drama ‘The Idol’. Pop-star singer The Weeknd, Reza Fahim, and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson are the co-creators of the show.
In a piece of very exciting news to BLINKs, Jennie reportedly will be starring in the HBO show Co-created by The Weeknd, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson ‘The Idol’. The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp will star as the show’s main characters, with Troye Sivan, Steve Zissis, and Juliebeth Gonzalez featuring in supporting roles. Meanwhile, Jennie was also invited to appear on the show, but she is yet to confirm it.
A sneak-peak into the show -The Idol
The show will feature a self-help guru in a tangled relationship with a budding pop idol. Although the exact details of Jennie’s offer are unknown, it is most likely a guest or supporting role that Jennie will be assigned. In recurrent roles, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley, Nico Hiraga, Anne Heche, Maya Eshet, Tyson Ritter, Kate Lyn Sheil, Liz Caribel Sierra, and Finley Rose Slater will be featured.
HBO handed the production a series order for the first season, which will consist of six episodes, on November 22, 2021. Earlier Amy Seimetz said that she will manage all six episodes in addition to the series order. However, she announced her departure from the initiative later on April 26, 2022. Nick Hall joined the project as an executive producer, according to Deadline Hollywood, following his shift to A24 to supervise creative for the firm’s broadcast lineup.
The show is presently being filmed in Los Angeles, California. However, the possible collaboration between Jennie and The Weeknd was suspected long back by BLINKs when both the artists met each other in Los Angeles in the month of November 2021.
Following Kim Jisoo, who featured in the drama Snowdrop in 2021, Jennie might become the second member of BLACKPINK to feature in a drama series provided Jennie accepts the proposal.
BLACKPINK’S Upcoming Comeback
Each of the four members has returned to work on their next group project. The band announced that they’re working on their second album, which will be released later this year, in a new Rolling Stone interview.
In March, Jennie confirmed the news during an appearance on the Korean variety show The Game Caterers 2 and gave the first signs about the group’s return. “BLACKPINK is also making a comeback soon. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but since I’m the only one here, I’ll just say it. Please look forward to it,” Jennie said.
