After two and a half years!
Prime minister Narendra Modi is set to visit J&K On April 24, this would be the first visit of PM Modi after Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)- led centre had decided to end the special constitutional status of the state and split it into two union territories, on August 5, 2019.
PM Modi is visiting J&K on the occasion of National Raj Day, where he is supposed to talk to locals grassroots representatives in Jammu.
The local representatives were elected in the panchayat elections of November -December 2020, which were held after 15 months.
Restoration of special status!
PM Narendra Modi had previously said in an statement, on August 15,2019, that when the right time come’s J&K’s special constitutional status would be reinstated
Regional leaders are hopeful whether during the first Visit of PM Modi after two and a half years, whether he would announce reinstating the special status of J&K.
The PM’s visit also comes at a time when the Jammu and Kashmir Delimination Commission is almost on the verge of completing it’s exercise to carve out seven different assembly segments in J&K, thereby increasing the assembly’s strength to 90 seats.
The first visit of PM Modi might be timed for this, as this is the perfect time for BJP to throw their candidates in the upcoming election mix and also to set the timeline for the restoration of J&K’s special constitutional status as a state.
Development of Kashmir Valley!
The PM Is also scheduled to visit Palli village in Jammu’s Samba district on 24tb April, that has been billed as India’s first carbon-neutral panchayat.
In addition multiple inaugurations ceremonies will also be presided over by PM Modi. It has also been announced that PM is to launch development projects worth Rs 38,082 crore.
The PM, accompanied by Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh, will also inaugurate the 8.45-km long Banihal-Qazigund road tunnel built for Rs 2,100 crore.
