What is Jock Itch?
Jock Itch is a fungal infection caused from excessive sweating or skin getting chafed from body-hugging outfits. It manifests as rashes in the damp areas of the body. Mostly affecting the groin and inner thigh, these circular red bruning eruptions are itchy and can be tamed with cream or anti-fungal sprays.

People who perspire a lot or athletes are most susceptible to this infection. Keeping yourself clean and dry, taking care of personal hygiene, showering twice a day, wiping away sweat beads along with wearing loose and comfy clothes can keep you safe from getting these rashes.
Dermatologist, Dr Rinky Kapoor elaborates that Jock Itch, also known by its medical name ‘Tinea Crutis’, is a contagious condition and requires medical scrutiny at the earliest. It’s a fairly habitual occurrence in patients suffering from diabetes and thyroid.
Moreover, Dr Vijay Singhal, a well-known dermatologist, explains that this infection is caused by a fungus identified as dermatophytes, which thrive in sweaty regions.
