The NIA is investigating a terror angle in the car blast case that had taken place on October 23, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
In the ongoing investigation of the Coimbatore blast case, the Tamil Nadu police have carried out raids across 4 places in Chennai over a suspected link to the terrorist group Islamic state. This is the 3rd time the police have conducted a raid in just 10 days.
The prime accused Jameesha Mubin who was supposed to drive the car to the location halted for some time between police check posts. While he was sitting in the car, a blast happened.
As per the information, there was a bigger conspiracy behind the Coimbatore blast case. The car in which the blast took place was brought to Tamil Nadu city center.
Police have arrested 6 who are recognized as Muhammad Talka, Muhammad Azharuddin, Muhammad Riyaz, Firoze Ismail, and Muhammad Nawaz Ismail. NIA took over the case and started its investigation on 30th October. The NIA court in Chennai has remanded them to judicial custody till 22nd November.
The blast took place in the wee hours of Sunday morning, 5 men carried out some bags from Mubin’s place as revealed in CCTV footage recovered by the police.
According to the police, the blast was caused due to an LPG cylinder in the vehicle. The agency suspects terror and Mubin may be a suicide member. Police during the investigation found explosive materials.
