Lollapalooza marked its debut in India on Saturday 28,2023. In its first Asia edition, the show is expected to host over 60,000 fans from the country. The eighth festival location, Mumbai, India, marked a new frontier for the renowned music event. The highlights of the event were amazing performances from world-leading musicians and artists like Imagine Dragons.
‘Lollapalooza’ was founded by singer Perry Farrell in the 90s. The annual American music festival was held at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The two-day event has a lineup of more than 20 artists including Alec Benjamin and Prateek Kuhad. The concert will have four different stages set up on the race track over 225 acres to facilitate performance by all artists.

The festival’s first performance was led by a renowned Punjabi singer Amritpal Singh Dhillon popularly known as AP. In his hour-long performance, the artist sang his chartbuster songs Summer High, Dil Nu, Woh Noor, Excuses and Brown Munde. He also greeted his fans during his act and also threw the ukulele towards the crowd. The singer however was criticised for lip-syncing during the first half of the act.
Famous American pop singer Imagine dragon wrapped the first day of Lollapalooza with his electrifying performance. The singer went shirtless in the middle of the act and waved the India flag across the huge stage. This was the band’s maiden first performance in the country and the lead singer greeted the public by saying “This is the first of many shows.”

The band performed many of their recording-breaking albums which included songs such as Radioactive, Bad Liar, Believer, Enemy, Thunder and many more. He shared his gratitude towards his Indian fans and said “You people have been nice and kind. Your food is amazing. Thank you for receiving me with such kindness. What a pleasure it has been to be here today.”
Artists who performed at Lollapalooza Day 1
The first day of the music festival featured performances by the Indian band “Easy Wanderlings” from Pune, the Indian heavy metal group “Bloodywood,” the American singer Chelsea Cutler, the Mumbai-based composer Sandunes, and the Mumbai-based band “Madboy/Mink” with Saba Azad and Imaad Shah.
Artists who are expected to perform at Lollapalooza Day 2
Popular Indian performers including Tanmaya Bhatnagar, Divine, and Prateek Kuhad are among those performing on day two’s schedule. Internationally renowned performers like the rock group “The Strokes” and American music producer DJ Diplo are also scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza.
GOT7 star Jackson Wang is also expected to perform at the festival. He arrived in Mumbai early morning when fans could not wait and mobbed the artist. As soon as the kpop star exited the airport, he very calmly greeted his fans with namaste. However, the Mumbai security team was not able to handle the massive crowd that awaited the artist on the outskirts of the airport.
Videos from the unexpected ordeal have been viral on all social media platforms. Wang’s fans are expressing their disappointment with the security team and are demanding better treatment of the artist. The kpop artist expressed his desire to visit India and perform in the country several times.

BTown Celebrities who attended Lollapalooza’s first day
Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao was spotted cheering for his favourite artist Imagine Dragons, and actor Hrithik Roshan was seen arriving at the concert for his girlfriend Saba Azad’s gig.
Television actress and reality show winner Tejasswi Prakash ( popularly known as Teja ) was also spotted attending the concert. She posted her pictures and videos from the event on her social media account.
