The Paris School of Decorative Arts (École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris), which seeks to “train future artists and designers to be creators of contemporary decor and transformers of tomorrow’s world,” will open its workshops to the public on Friday, January 27, and Saturday, January 28, 2024.
During these two days, prospective students will have the opportunity to peek behind the scenes at the institution’s know-how and creation and to learn about the fashion courses it offers.
Students’ creativity, research, and innovation skills will be used in textiles, materials, and surfaces for housing and architecture, clothing, objects, cars, airplanes, public facilities, etc. The textile and material design course aims to develop student’s creativity, research, and innovation skills.
About the Course
The education of clothes design at the Paris School of Decorative Arts strives to understand garment design by including contemporary themes such as eco-responsibility and recycling through various methodologies. The Paris School of Decorative Arts has aimed to educate responsible designers who will bring a fresh perspective to creating apparel and accessories in light of the industry’s reputation as one of the most environmentally damaging.
The Paris School of Decorative Arts worked with the Dauphine – PSL and Mines Paris – PSL schools to create the Enamoma / PSL master’s degree. The degree seeks to create a responsible and social fashion business through research and higher education. To prepare future professionals in design, management, and engineering, the Master Mode & Matière is a dedicated and multidisciplinary environment for experimentation that blends academic and professional knowledge.Â
In addition to the Master’s degree in Fashion and Matter – Enamoma / PSL, more than 800 designers from 10 different disciplines (Art-space, interior design, film animation, graphic design, product design, textile and material design, clothing design, printed image, photo/video studies, and scenography) dedicate themselves in creating the physical, imaginary, and visual environment of today as well as considering how society and the arts are changing.
About the Program:
The MA is a project-based curriculum with a firm foundation in the Parisian fashion industry, with its diverse businesses and realities.
The program mixes brief masterclasses with extensive purpose-driven projects in collaboration with top fashion brands in each Design track. These Maisons, like Balenciaga, Celine, Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Saint Laurent, are active participants in the school’s foundation. While Core Atelier 1 in Year 1 focuses on exploratory projects with highly skilled guest designers, Core Atelier 2 heavily focuses on significant partnerships with big Maisons in Paris and other European fashion capitals.
Students may have a six-month internship in a Maison following the Graduate Show.
They select an internship based on their goals and skill set.
Students can join the studios of all fashion and luxury enterprises in Paris, Milan, London, or any other city besides the numerous Maisons.
Each pathway’s curriculum consists of 20% cross-disciplinary courses that involve students from all MA routes and 80% practice-based specialized courses.
