Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid homage to the 26/11 martyrs.
It’s the 14th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attack, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, CM Shinde, Dy CM Fadnavis, and other seniors officers paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives at the Police Commissioner office of Mumbai.
Dy CM Faadnavis said, ”After the attack, the need for surveillance through CCTV network was stressed. From 2009 onwards, tenders were issued and canceled but the project never took off. Only when I took over as chief minister in 2014, the project got momentum and its first phase was completed in one year. Security on the seas has also been strengthened”
President Droupadi Murmu and several others paid respects to the people who lost their lives in the horrendous 26/11 Mumbai attack.
She said, “On the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the nation remembers with gratitude all those we lost. We share the enduring pain of their loved ones and families. Nation pays homage to the security personnel who fought valiantly and made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.”
EAM S Jaishankar tweeted a video and also added, “Terrorism threatens humanity. Today, on 26/11, the world joins India in remembering its victims. Those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice. We owe this to every victim of terrorism around the world.”

Village in Maharashtra renamed after a 26/11 Martyr
A village (Sultanpur) in Maharashtra has been renamed after a 26/11 Martyr ‘Rahul Nagar’ to honor 26/11 martyr. The village contains 1600 houses.
Rahul Shinde, Constable of the State Reserve Police Reserve (SRPF) attained martyrdom during the 26/11 terror attacks. He lived in a village named Sultanpur, Madha tesil of Solapur. He was the first police officer to enter the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in South Mumbai. He has been honored with President’s Police Medal on him posthumously for his supreme sacrifice.
“All the government formalities for renaming the village are done. We are now waiting for the official renaming ceremony,” said Subhash Vishnu Shinde father of the late Rahul Shinde.
Police Inspector Sanjay Govilkar advised his colleagues not to kill Kasab as he was the evidence. Govilkar himself had taken bullets in the abdomen.
“Don’t Kill him. He is evidence,” Inspector Sanjay Govilkar.
Tukaram Omble, an assistant sub inspector, took 40 bullets and sacrificed his precious life to catch Kasab alive. But he was also caught alive because of Inspector Sanjay Govilkar.
14 years back then 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists from Pakistan by sea route and opened fire, killing 166 people including 18 security personnel. Several others were injured during the 60 – hour siege in Mumbai.
