Investigators retrieved the motorcycle belonging to Gurcharan Singh, the victim, from the Kaind Canal Bridge based on the information provided by the accused. However, the search for his body is still ongoing.
Police have recently launched a murder investigation into the case of a 70-year-old resident of the city, who had been missing for a period of four months. This development follows the apprehension of the business partner of the victim, who has confessed to committing the murder, along with their accomplice.Â
“Arrests Made and Victim’s Motorcycle Found: Investigation Continues in Search of Missing Body”Â
The individuals taken into custody have been positively identified as Gurinder Singh from Jalvana, Maler Kotla, and his employee Gurmeet Singh. After receiving valuable information from the accused, the investigative team successfully located the motorcycle belonging to the victim, Gurcharan Singh, near the Kaind Canal Bridge. However, the victim’s body has not yet been found.
Law enforcement authorities have also seized a black Maruti Suzuki Alto Car suspected of being involved in transporting the deceased’s body to the Bhakra Dam, where it was subsequently discarded into the water.
According to Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has been diligently probing the case for the last three months. Their investigation has led them to suspect the involvement of Gurinder, the partner of the deceased individual, in his mysterious disappearance. In a significant development on Wednesday, the police took Gurinder into custody along with one of his employees.Â

Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu revealed that the deceased’s son, Bhupinder Singh from Racheen, Dahlon, had lodged a complaint regarding his father’s disappearance in February. He informed the police that his father, who co-owned a pig farm with Gurinder, had departed for work on January 23 but never returned. Since then, his father’s phone had remained turned off.
The commissioner of police stated that Bhupinder Singh harbored suspicions that his father was being held captive. In response, the police promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) under section 346 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to wrongful confinement in secrecy, and launched an investigation. Subsequently, on February 26, the case was transferred to the dedicated personnel of CIA staff-1 for further analysis.
During the investigation, the police apprehended Gurinder Singh and one of his employees, Gurmeet Singh, in connection with the murder of Gurcharan Singh. The motive behind the crime was a monetary dispute.Â
According to the authorities, on January 23, the accused brutally killed Gurcharan Singh by striking him with a blunt object. Subsequently, they stored the deceased’s body at a nearby farm for a day. Afterward, they disposed of the body by dumping it into the Bhakra Canal. Furthermore, they discarded Gurcharan Singh’s motorcycle by throwing it into a canal close to the Kaind Canal bridge.
Additionally, according to the commissioner of police, the police have included sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing the disappearance of evidence of an offense), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), and 342 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the First Information Report (FIR). Efforts are currently being made to recover the body of the deceased.
