Delhi Police has been recently concerned about the ascending crime rates in the Capital. In the busy residential area of Chittranjan Park (CR Park) two men on a motorcycle fired at two people inside a car as they drove through. Over the last few days, the crimes have increased in Delhi, recording up to four murders within twenty-four hours.
Around 8 PM Sachin Gupta was en route to buy some clothes and was talking on the phone when the shot was fired through the driver’s side window and the target- Sachin Gupta- was injured as he was in the driver’s seat of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. As the suspects fled, the passengers of the car made it to the first home in the area they found unlocked to seek medical help. Gupta’s injuries included a bullet wound on the index finger of the right hand.
“We saw one man with a bloody finger and another trying to make frantic calls.” Said Gautam Das, the resident to whom they had fled to after the event. Sachin Gupta was taken to AIIMS and discharged soon after.
A case of attempted murder was lodged against the unidentified suspects and the motive for attack was also investigated. The initial probe found that the bikers had been following 26-year-old Gupta and Waseem Ahmed from their house itself.
The police arrived to the scene within ten minutes as they received a call around 8:14 PM. DCP Chowdhary revealed that the bikers had masked their faces and the bullet thankfully only hurt the finger of the driver as it pierced through the car’s window.
The street crimes increase day by day and make the citizens of the Captial feel unsafe and unprotected in the face of such danger. The shooting in CR Park created a lot of tumult in the nearby households and shops around it. While Gautam das, resident of the C-Block, admitted that such crimes around the area had never occurred before this, it was evident that the residents were quite disturbed.
The CCTV revealed that though they had been tailed for long, it was only in CR Park the bikers could get close and find an opportunity to shoot, while Mr. Gupta just survived by few inches After at least eight teams looked for the attackers they were only found and caught till late Friday but the true motive or reason of this attempt to murder is still unclear to the police.
This occurs right after the murder of the two sisters and the repeated stabbing of a girl in a public place, as CM Arvind Kejriwal writes to LG V K Saxena over the rising crime rates, not much is occurring to stop the increasing murders.
