In Delhi on Sunday(26 Feb,2023), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the evening after nearly eight hours of questioning on corruption under the 2021-22 Excise Policy. The incident could further deepen the political tussle between the BJP-led central government and the Aam Aadmi Party. Sisodia is the second minister in the Delhi government to be arrested after the arrest of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in June last year.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia or other leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party did not answer questions regarding suspected corruption in the liquor policy. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that Manish Sisodia is the only education minister in the world who indulges in a wine platter and whatever comes out of it comes out and is shocking.

He argued that the political conspiracies of the opposition BJP have become a hindrance to democracy in the country.
