In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Manish Sisodia charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with “misusing” the government’s investigative institutions against political foes.
Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, claimed today that the CBI was pursuing him because the government was upset with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for receiving praise both domestically and internationally for its “commendable” performance in the healthcare and education sectors.
In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Manish Sisodia, who has been identified as an accused in a First Information Report filed by the CBI on violations of the alcohol policy, made the charge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The administration, according to Mr. Sisodia, seeks to terrify his party’s leaders since they see Arvind Kejriwal as the major rival to PM Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Manish Sisodia stated that
He stated that instead of a prime minister who always considers the CBI and ED, the nation needs someone who would make India the “number one country in the world.”
Arvind Kejriwal thinks about healthcare, education, and employment, but PM Modi always considers conducting raids via the CBI and ED against his political foes, according to Mr. Sisodia, who spoke to NDTV.
In a 14-hour home raid, Mr. Sisodia claimed there was no scam and that nothing had been discovered. He also denied any misconduct.
They don’t care about any excise policy fraud, or else they would have looked into the corruption in Gujarat, which is governed by the BJP and has an annual excise tax evasion rate of 10,000 crores. Thousands of people there die from consuming toxic liquor, Mr. Sisodia said.
“Now, they are alleging a 144-crore scam, but they will not discover anything because there was total openness in the implementation of the liquor policy,” he added. “They are accusing us of an 8,000-crore scam, then another politician claimed a 1,100-crore fraud.”
The minister added that although he will probably be imprisoned soon, it won’t stop his party from carrying out good deeds. I’m not afraid, he declared.
The Delhi Chief Minister is the “kingpin” of the excise policy “scam,” according to the BJP.
The “scam” of the excise policy was started by the dishonest Kejriwal.
“No one is above the law, and the corrupt will not escape punishment,” According to party spokesman Gaurav Bhatia, reporters
Anurag Thakur, a Union Minister, responded to AAP’s assertion that it will be the primary opposition to the BJP in the general election of 2024 by saying, “AAP made tall claims earlier too, but could not stand before PM Modi.”
In response to charges of corruption in the liquor policy, the CBI conducted searches at Manish Sisodia’s home as well as 31 additional locations spread across seven states on Friday.
According to the investigation agency, intermediaries and alcohol distributors “actively participated in irregularities in the framing and implementation” of the excise policy.
138In comments in a letter to the CBI last month, the Lieutenant Governor accused the AAP of bringing the excise policy into effect “only” to enrich private liquor barons and provide financial benefits to “personnel at the highest echelons of the government before Manish Sisodia.”
On a list of 15 defendants listed in the CBI’s FIR, Mr. Sisodia is listed first. The 11-page document lists the following offenses: corruption, criminal conspiracy, and account falsification.
