Actor Manoj Bajpayee announced that Amazon Prime Video is now broadcasting his movie Gali Guleiyan.
It struggled to be released on an OTT platform after being released in India in 2018.
The movie received numerous honours and toured the globe via national and international film festivals. However, I wanted the movie to be seen by people in my nation, so I fought to make that happen, and it has now succeeded. Actor Manoj Bajpayee discusses his passion project, “Gali Guleiyan,” which is also known as “In The Shadows” internationally. A critically praised movie that has won awards and been chosen as an official entry in over 20 film festivals worldwide.
The 22nd Busan International Film Festival hosted the world premiere of “Gali Guleiyan” in 2017. Although it had trouble getting launched on an OTT platform, it was released in India in 2018. The movie was finally released on Amazon Prime in October 2022 after four years of effort.
“OUT NOW,” the star captioned the movie poster when he uploaded it on social media. I had to halt filming because I was so close to losing my capacity to maintain mental sanity while preparing for this part.
Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami, and Om Singh, a newcomer, are among the movie’s stars. The movie is a psychological thriller about Khuddoos, a guy who is imprisoned both by the city’s walls and by his own thoughts. To connect with people, he makes an effort to escape.
In his performance, Manoj Bajpayee shines among the cast members. He is totally alone—emotionally, psychologically, and physically. Even though he says so little, he really captures the spirit of the movie.
Toughest Role By Manoj Bajpayee
The actor, Manoj Bajpayee shared on social media expressing his efforts and dedication to work for this movie and bring it to people. I played a character who is so terribly afflicted that I could not discern the difference between fiction and truth, he said.
Dipesh Jain, a graduate of the University of Southern California Film School and the recipient of the Director’s Guild of America (DGA) Student Award, wrote, produced, and directed the film. Being able to cast Manoj Bajpayee in Dipesh Jain’s first significant feature film, “Gali Guleiyan,” was not an easy task.
The method actor describes the situation, saying, “We were confined to the crowded gullies of Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi. I portray a man who is so severely afflicted that he is unable to distinguish between reality and fiction.
After 20 days on-site, “I begged my director Dipesh to stop filming since the part was impacting me more profoundly than I had anticipated. I was on the edge of going crazy” said Manoj Bajpayee.
“Dipesh would film another gruesome scene, then lock me in a room where I could only fall asleep. After reviving myself, I would perform another scene that would mentally exhaust me. That is how it continued throughout the shooting. By that point, it was difficult for me to distinguish between the persona and myself. I couldn’t tell where one thing stopped and another started.”
Manoj Risked His Health To Look Sick For this Role
Manoj Bajpayee risked his health to look like a sick man for the film and was asked to follow a strict diet chart. “It looked like a huge diet chart. I wasn’t acting in a healthy way. Protein deprivation is unhealthy. It might permanently provide damage to you. When performing work that one is extremely passionate about, one must take a risk.”
He was given a role to look like a sick man, so he needed to drastically lose weight for that. He talked about his health. He said that he started catching a fever multiple times, and he expressed that he was a person who was blessed with a good immune system and never used to catch a fever so easily. But due to this role, his immune system was completely hampered.

Manoj Bajpayee is an actor who is very passionate about his work and can take risks easily to prove himself by doing hard work and showing dedication towards his work. Finally, after a wait of four years, the movie “Gali Guleiyan” is out on Amazon Prime and released OTT.
