Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a strong statement in Guwahati, expressing his readiness to face any consequences, even retirement from public life, if concrete proof emerges that his wife has received or sought any funds from the Indian government.
“I want to stress once more that neither my wife nor her associated company has ever received or claimed any funds from the Indian government. If anyone can provide substantial evidence, I am fully prepared to accept any consequences, including stepping away from public service,“ the chief minister stated in response to a comment by Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, on ‘X’.
