Decentraland is a 3D virtual platform for users to buy, sell virtual lands as a non-fungible token (NFT) through cryptocurrency. Now, what exactly is a metaverse? Metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds. Lots of science fiction include the term metaverse as an expanse space of the internet.
This is the first time metaverse is hosting a fashion week. We have heard about celebrities buying lands virtually . From Indian pop star Daler Mehandi to American pop star Snoop Dogg. Daler Mehandi famously named his virtual platform ‘Balle Balle’.
The Mediterranean brand MANGO is also hosting a fashion show in the metaverse. With few garments presenting of both men and women. Estée Lauder, Forever 21 is also participating in Decentraland’s modern museum.
Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce and Gabbana are preparing for a virtual fashion event. The hosting of the multiple shows takes place between 24 to 28 March. A four-day event. The virtual event is supposed to host every event like universe events such as runway shows, shopping and afterparties.
This is the first-ever large-scale virtual fashion week on metaverse. The attendees will be given out a digital badge as their surety of presence. As mentioned earlier one can buy any piece of garment they want from the runway. What is most fascinating about these events is that the brands are using their NFT lands as their runway. But this was a sort of trademark issue up until now.
