Mob breaks into Bidar Heritage Madrasa During Dussehra Procession, four arrested-WATCH: KarnatakaÂ
Thursday, police in Bidar, Karnataka, arrested four individuals after a throng participating in a Dussehra procession allegedly broke into a historic madrasa, causing communal tensions.
In addition to shouting slogans, the mob apparently conducted puja in a madrasa courtyard. The mob burst the gate’s lock, invaded the madrasa, and splattered vermillion throughout.
The madrasa is a monument of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). As a result of the incident, members of the minority community gathered around the monument and demanded punishment against the “criminals.”
Later, authorities took action and filed charges against nine individuals, of whom four have already been arrested under various IPC provisions.
In Karnataka, such incidents have been on the rise, and there have been attempts to discredit a specific community through them.
The Congress party has also responded to the matter and criticized the Karnataka government for allowing such conduct.
Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the AIMIM, has criticized the state administration, stating that the BJP government is degrading Muslims.
According to police department sources, tiny rites were performed annually by a small number of persons, and there was never any issue because the number was always modest.
This time, however, a large number of individuals gathered around the madrasa and conducted the rituals, which is precisely why the problem generated concern.
