In Madhya Pradesh MP, a man’s house was pulled down after a video of him allegedly hitting his girlfriend surfaced on social media. The accused was arrested from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared a video of the demolishing. He said that no one committing crimes against women will be spared on Madhya Pradesh soil.
Who is he?
The accused is named Pankaj Tripathi. He works as a driver. In addition to demolishing his house, the police have also suspended his driving license. His house was built in Dhara village of the Mauganj area of the district.
The police station has also been charged with dereliction of duty, officials said.
What happened?
According to the police, Pankaj Tripathi allegedly beat up his girlfriend after a fight. Tripathi is 24 and his girlfriend is 19.
In the video recorded of the dispute, the man is seen getting angry with his girlfriend after she apparently asks him to marry her. He then repeatedly kicks and slaps her.
The victim is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment for her injuries. She is currently in critical condition.
The incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday, December 21. Sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Naveen Dubey reported that the woman had come by the police station to report the incident, however, she refused to file a complaint against her attacker.
The man was however anyways booked under section 151 of the IPC, disturbing public peace, and then later released.

The accused was later additionally booked under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. This occurred after the video came to the notice of the chief minister, who took a personal interest in the case. The accused is currently on the run from the law, says the police.
Another person implicated
A complaint has been lodged against the person who shot and then circulated the video by the victim. They have been booked under the Information Technology Act, said the police.
The man’s house was demolished by a bulldozer. The tweet further said that the criminal Pankaj Tripathi was arrested in the incident of vandalism with a girl in Mauganj area of Rewa district, and a bulldozer was fired at his house. Driver Pankaj’s license has also been cancelled. No one who commits atrocities on women on the land of Madhya Pradesh will be spared.
The CMO also stated that any body who commits crimes against women will face strict consequences. the CMO tweeted that any criminal who cannot respect women has no right to live in a civilised society.
The house that was demolished was apparently built illegally. The house is seen being demolished in a video circulating on social media. It is hoped that the demolition of his house is enough to teach the man a lesson he will never forget.
