“Adivasi ke adivasi hi rahoge. Tum logo ko thik se bolna bhi aata hai kya” – principal of Government of Maharashtra Secondary Training College comments on a Dalit student.
Mumbai principal, Urmila Parlikar is under suspension for harassing and body shaming students of her college.
An official complaint was filed by the students of the Government of Maharashtra Secondary Training College of Dhobi Talao area against their principal who allegedly harassed and made lewd remarks about their appearance.
It was reported that the principal commented about the appearance of female students and spoke openly about the size of their privates in a class mainly consisting of male students.
According to the students, Parlikar would comment on the female students’ appearance, dresses, and even their private parts and harass them in class. Students have also claimed that she made casteist remarks to the students.
They alleged that Parliker usually made lewd comments to them by saying, “Adivasi k Adivasi hi rahoge. Tum logo ko thik se bolna bhi aata hai kya” (People like you will remain tribes. Even speaking properly is impossible for you). When a Dalit student approached her, she allegedly said, “Mujhse door khade raha karo (Steer clear of me).”
