Earlier Investigation by Mumbai Police
The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai crime branch conducted the search at the unit in Nalasopara (west) on Wednesday. It executed the operation in response to the specific intelligence received. Finally, they found the illicit substance that was going to be sold to drug dealers in Mumbai and the surrounding regions, an official said.
The input was given to the ANC’s Worli unit back in March of this year. Cops found out the information as a result of the capture of a drug dealer from the Mumbai neighborhood of Govandi. At that time, 250 grams of mephedrone were found on him. The police were looking for a lady after learning she was engaged in supplying the mephedrone during questioning. The lady and another person, who were detained later, and 2.760 kg of mephedrone were confiscated.
The lady was located on July 27 and taken into custody. As a consequence of her questioning, the other accused got into custody two days back on August 2. When the officials interrogated the four suspects individually, they learned that the miscreants had bought the narcotic from a fifth person. Through his interview process, the ANC authorities discovered that a greater number of people were participating in the unlawful business.
The Police were successful in detaining the fifth individual yesterday. And through questioning, the investigating officers further discovered that he was a graduate and had studied organic chemistry. According to ANC deputy commissioner of Mumbai police Datta Nalawade, he utilized his understanding of organic chemistry and skill to prepare mephedrone. Further, after preparation, he supplied it to their clients, who he reached out to via social media platforms.
