On Sunday early morning, more than 20 people were found dead at a nightclub in the coastal town of East London, confirmed the police. Most of the victims were between the age group of 18 to 20 years including minors as young as 13 years old.
The young children, who were apparently attending a party to commemorate the end of winter school exams, passed away of unknown causes. The incident’s circumstances are still being looked into by the police. According to the local daily Daily Dispatch, victims were found in the Enyobeni Tavern strewn across chairs and tables with no obvious evidence of injury.
The owner of the club, Siyakhangela Ndevu, revealed to the nearby station eNCA that he had been summoned to the scene early on Sunday. The cops were making an effort to disperse the crowd outside the city nightclub.
To determine the likely cause of death, autopsies are being performed as quickly as possible. The dead have been transported to state morgues.
