It’s finally here, the trailer for Shabbir Khan’s long-awaited action comedy and the official remake of Middle-Class Abbayi, Nikamma, starring Shilpa Shetty, Abhimanyu Dassani, and Shirley Setia

Filming of “Nikamma” commenced in 2019 and ended in 2020. However, post-production was delayed due to the pandemic. It is an official remake of the Telugu film, Middle-Class Abbayi (2017), starring Nani and Sai Pallavi

Shirley Setia, who made her acting debut with Maska on Netflix in 2020, will be making her Bollywood debut opposite Abhimanyu Dassani.
Actress Shilpa Shetty will be seen in the role of “the most gorgeous villain in the world” in her first theatrical release after a fourteen-year hiatus (her last venture Hungama 2 was released on Disney+Hotstar in 2021).
About the trailer
The trailer portrays Dassani’s character as “Nikamma”, a slacker who goofs around his friends with no purpose in life. Setia plays the role of his love interest and describes herself as a “love addict” in the trailer.
Shilpa Shetty’s character is introduced in the hue of a glamorous superhero, who is described as “thunder woman meets Manjulika”.
The cast also includes Abhimanyu Singh (antagonist) and Samir Soni in prominent roles.
In her remarks during the trailer launch event, actress Bhagyashree, Dassani’s mother expressed her gratitude to the makers. In her emotional and heartfelt words she lauded her son’s dedication, she said, “…Yeh nikamma aapke dil mein rakhna bas” (…Just keep this “slacker” in your heart).
About the film
“Nikamma” is the directorial venture of Sabbir Khan (Heropanti, Baaghi). The movie is produced in collaboration with Sabbir Khan Films and Sony Pictures India. The movie will hit the theaters on June 17, 2022.
