NIRF 2022 rankings: IIT Madras tops as India’s best overall university. IISc Bengaluru remains the best research institute. AIIMS-Delhi shines as the best medical college. NLSIU emerges as the best law university.
Best Overall Institute for NIRF Ranking :
IIT Madras shines as the best overall institute in India for the fourth year in a row. It scored a Research and Professional Practice (RPP) rating of 91.98 out of 100 and a Peer Perception (PR) rating of 98.75.
With an RPC of 87.45 and a PR of 100, IISc Bengaluru also fares well in the second position. IIT Bombay also remains commendable at the third position.
Best Research Institute
IISc Bengaluru tops as the best research institute in India. It has a Metric for Quantitative Research (QNR) ranking of 98.68 and a Peer Perception rating of 100.
Not one to be left behind, IIT Madras lands at the second position. IIT Delhi also scores well at the third position, making it the best research institute in North India.
Best NIRF RANKING 2022 Medical College
For the fifth year in a row, AIIMS Delhi emerged as the best medical college in India. The rank is unsurprising, given its Graduation Outcome (GO) score of 99.32 and a Peer Perception score of 100.
PGIMER Chandigarh also fares well at the second position for the third year consecutively. CMC Vellore also does well at the third position.
Best Engineering College
Unsurprisingly, eight out of the top ten engineering colleges in India are IITs. IIT-Madras has retained the number one position for the seventh consecutive year.
IIT-Delhi is in the second position, making it the best engineering college in North India. IIT-Bombay also fares well in the third position.
Best Law College
NLSIU Bengaluru remains the best law college in India. This is a well-deserved score, based on their Peer Perception score of 97.88 and a Graduation Outcome of 81.16.
At the second position is NLU Delhi, its prestige speaking for itself. Most surprising is the third position rank of Symbiosis Law School, a significant improvement from ninth place last year and a great score for a private institution.
Other Well Performing Institutes
Ranked first, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi has emerged as the best university for Pharmacology.
Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai has bagged the first rank in Dental Sciences.
IIM Ahmedabad shines as the best institute for Management. In 2022, six out of the top ten management institutes are IIMs.
IIT Roorkee has scored the top in India for architecture.
Well Performing Regions
Metropolitan regions of Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi have remained the top-ranked cities by the educational institutions in India.
Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal, and Maharashtra have similarly emerged as best-performing regions.
The cities of Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Pune are also notably present in the top 50.
What are the NIRF rankings for 2022?
Adopted by the Ministry of Education, The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) system ranks institutes and universities across India. The first rankings were released in 2016. Institutions are ranked under 11 categories – overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research.
What are the parameters of NIRF rankings 2022?
The NIRF rankings grade institutions across five parameters. These parameters are then assigned certain weightages, based on the type of institution. The parameters considered are:
