Rahul Gandhi refused to comment on PM Modi’s remark ‘Bhai-Bhatijavad’ made in his speech today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech called corruption and nepotism, two evils of society. PM Modi said that these two are the biggest challenges the country is facing today.
When asked to comment on it, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi refused to comment but wished Independence Day. Congress President Sonia Gandhi had earlier slammed the BJP govt for trivializing freedom fighters.
Congress leader Pawan Khera taking a jibe at the BJP said that the Prime Minister must be talking about his own party and its internal matters. Khera added, “the country expected the PM to give a report card of the last 8 years. People were expecting him to speak about doubling farmers’ income, houses for all, and tap water for every house. The Prime Minister let down everyone as all eyes were on him today.”
The Prime Minister in his speech from Red Fort laid out a map for India for the next 25 years. He said that ‘corruption’ and ‘Bhai-bhatija waad’ are two big challenges. “When I talk about nepotism and dynasty, people think I am talking about politics only. No, unfortunately, this evil of politics has nurtured nepotism in every institution,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi said that just like Bhai-Bhatijawad in politics, there was no transparency in the selection process of players in sports. Our players’ talent was wasted due to this issue.
Earlier BJP on Sunday released a video compilation of its version of events that led to partition. The video appears to be blaming Jawaharlal Nehru and showed a picture of him and Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Congress also objected to the Karnataka government’s newspaper advertisement on freedom fighters that excluded India’s first Prime Minister and freedom fighter Jawaharlal Nehru.
“Friends, we have achieved a lot in the last 75 years, but today’s self-obsessed government is bent on trivializing the great sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the glorious achievements of the country, which can never be accepted,” Sonia Gandhi said in her message on India’s 76th Independence Day.
