Noida’s Supertech‘s twin towers have received the final nod as the illegally built structure is all ready to say goodbye. The conclusive order for demolishment was given by the Supreme Court-appointed Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) technical expert.
The approval was required to demolish the structure of the twin towers located in Sector 93B in Noida. The date which was earlier finalised for the demolishing of the 100-metre tall structure was August 21 at 2:30 pm. It got delayed due to technical impediments.
Administration has now approved rigging of the twin towers as planned to be demolished on August 28. The nine-second demolition took a time period of more than nine months from (August 31. 2021) the order of the Supreme court that the twin towers would be razed to the ground.
What is the reason behind collapsing the “twin towers” building?
The twin towers couldn’t stand the minimum distance requirement under UP Apartment Act. A 7.5 all square foot building was built without the consent of individual flat owners.
Therefore, in August 2021, the apex court announced that the building( Apex- 100m tall, 32 floors & Cayenne-97m tall, 31 floors) has to be demolished.
A meeting for the discussion of detailed analysis and discussion was conducted last month (July). The meeting included the representatives of Supertech, Edifice Engineering, UP Pollution Control Board, Fire Department and the local police in attendance. Ritu Maheshwari, CEO of Noida Authorities moderated the said meeting.
“The company said the letter of intent had been awarded to demolition expert firm Edifice Engineering under the supervision of real estate consultant CBRI and the Noida Authority, in compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court,” said sources.
An approx. of 3500Kg explosives would be filled in around the 9400 field drilled in the columns and shears of the said building. An estimate of 17 days was taken into consideration for the installation of the explosives.
Supertech and Edifice officials said, “ We have assured the CBRI of putting all safety and risk mitigation measures in place in the Emerald Court and ATS Village societies, adjoining the twin towers” Insurance of Rs 100 crore has been given, in case of any damage to the surrounding area.
The explosives will be bought from Palwal to Noida. According to Edifice, it was imperative to get the building demolished by August 28.
The case was dangling mid-street since 2021. Meanwhile, it was anticipated that the building is gradually weakening. Nevertheless, it is all set to collapse, floor by floor, just like a cascade.
