Table of Contents
Fashion Week this year was graced by the presence of some really eminent people in the audience.
Lil Nas X and Penn Badgeley were among the many seated at the Thom Browne show which made headlines this year. The Michael Kors show NYFW 2024 was noted by the presence of Mindy Kaling, Katie Holmes and Kate Hudson front row.
They only constituted a fraction of the celebrities present at this festival including Maddie Ziegler, Lindsay Lohan, Suki Waterhouse, Ashley Graham, Julia Fox, Lana Condor, Lea Michelle, the event was star studded in the best way possible.
Speaking of stars…
TV charts weren’t the only thing that the cast of White Lotus dominated this year.
The world couldn’t get enough of them on screen, so they brought a show to the ramp! Jon Gries(who plays Greg on the loved show) made his ramp debut at Eckhaus Latta New York show. Even at the age of 65 Gries is not shy of exploring new territories out of his comfort zone and gave us a show as he strutted down in a chartreuse mohair sweater and beige trousers.
Meghann Fahy who plays Daphne in the show’s second season was spotted front row at Proenza Schouler’s runway show. She sported a gold buttoned jacket, a long tasseled coat and flared paints which stuck to the monochrome white theme.
Another cast member Haley Lu Richardson was spotted attending the Kate Spade NYFW show. She looked bougie in wool skirt suit and leopard printed tie.
Beatrice Granno and Simona Tabasco caught eyes at the Michael Kors show. Beatrice wore a floral black dress with a white coat and shades to just top off the look. Simona stuck to a monochrome red theme accessorized by a flashy overcoat and high heels.
NYFW this year was ‘wild’-literally.
Collina Strada(an eco-friendly fashion house that rose to fame this year) left people in awe. Models strutted down the runway in life-like animal prosthetics. Mice prosthetics, pig snouts, reptilian masks, the fashion show was an experience nobody had anticipated .A lot of the models were told to replace the traditional strut with animal-like movements .
The models were jewel studded and got the entire audience to experience something so surreal yet in ways beautiful. This show however caused great controversy. While some perceived the show as magical and a much needed creative push, others weren’t as pleased and went on to coin it as a nightmare.
Collina Strada wasn’t the only show that caught eyes,
Thom Browne made quite the impression this year.
Being the new chairman of Council of Fashion Designers of America there were huge expectations from his show, and surpassed all of them. The show was extraterrestrial and celestial.
It was a strong display of how much difference a set can make. The models strutted past what was a model of a wrecked biplane crash scene in the midst of a clock shaped dessert.
The primary color of the show was silver which leaked from the clothes onto the scattered silverware props that just added to the effect. The show was futuristic, magnificent, trend setting and a feast to the eyes of everyone present.
While the shows SERVED, the streets weren’t any behind.
The streets of the city were a fashion dream during NYFW.
Fashion Week is often the biggest source of inspiration for people, it’s a trendsetter for the season and a feverous display of the art. This year colors, high boots and bling dominated street style.
Fashion this year has definitely taken a shift from oversized and grunge to bright and flashy. Layering seems to be coming back into fashion but the one thing we draw from everything at NYFW this season is that clothes are getting more experimental and free, the people are not afraid of crossing boundaries and trying new things that nobody fathomed…and we absolutely love it.
