At the 74th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the United States former President Barack Obama wins Emmy Award for outstanding narrator. Obama won the award for his work in a Netflix Documentary Series called ‘Our Great National Parks.’
Along with Obama, David Attenborough, Lupita Nyong’o, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were nominated for the category.
The Netflix series Our Great National Parks explores the world’s national parks and their wildlife. Furthermore, it is a five-part documentary series.
In addition, the series is produced by a production company ventured by Barack Obama and Mitchell Obama, known as Higher Ground.
In US history, Barack Obama is the second president to win an Emmy Award. Previously, Dwight D. Eisenhower got an Emmy in 1956. The 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held on Saturday.
Obama wins Emmy to reach halfway from the EGOT title.
An EGOT is a special category for personalities who’ve won the prestigious Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. Previously, Barack Obama won two Grammy Awards for his audiobook version of two of his memoirs: ‘The Audacity of Hope’ and ‘Dreams From My Father.’
In addition, Michelle Obama also won a Grammy for reading her audiobook in 2020.
As Barack Obama wins Emmy and Grammy awards, he is now halfway close to becoming an EGOT winner.
So far, 17 people have accomplished an EGOT, including John Legend, Audrey Hepburn, Jennifer Hudson, and Rita Moreno.
Late Chadwick Boseman received an Emmy for his voice work.
On Saturday at the 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the ‘Black Panther’ actor from the Marvel universe, the late Chadwick Boseman, won an Emmy Award. He won the Emmy for his voiceover in Disney+ and Marvel Studios animation show ‘What If…?’
This was one of the last projects for Chadwick Boseman before he died due to colon cancer in 2020. Furthermore, in the animated show, Boseman voiced his Black Panther character T’Challa in an alternate universe.
