What are Oscars?
The Academy award also known as the Oscars awards are awards or accolades given for artistic technical worth in the American film industry. Oscars are considered as the highest, most prestigious, and most notable award in the entertainment industry in the United States. The award is given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also known as AMPAS. The Oscars are acknowledgments of brilliance in cinematic accomplishments of mainly American films.
The awards are evaluated and judged by the Academy’s voting membership. All the Academy award winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette as a trophy, officially known as an Academy Award of Merit, more commonly known as the Oscars. The statuette portrays a knight made in the Art Deco form or style. The trophy was originally carved by George Stanley of Los Angeles from the design sketched by art director Cedric Gibbons.
