Jaishankar calls out the Sharif government’s “hostile propaganda” on Kashmir and shames “insincere” Pakistan
In an Annual Report for 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (India) claimed that Pak is employing “hostile and false propaganda” against India to demonise it and draw attention away from its internal and external problems.
According to the MEA, India wants to have cordial relations with Pakistan as a neighbor, and New Delhi has consistently maintained that any disputes must be settled bilaterally and amicably in an environment free of terrorism and bloodshed.
It also stated that Pak had the responsibility of fostering a positive atmosphere.
The report claims that there is a growing understanding among nations that Jammu and Kashmir is primarily an internal issue for India.
Pakistan supports cross-border terrorism
Pak continues to support cross-border terrorism against India and impose restrictions on standard trade, connectivity, and interpersonal interactions.
According to MEA, cross-border terrorism, infiltration, and illicit arms smuggling into India over the Line of Control (LOC) and International Border continued despite India’s constant asking Pakistan to uphold the January 2004 agreement not to use its soil and territory against India.
India has acknowledged that its relationship with China is “complicated” and criticized Pakistan for continuing to support international terrorism in spite of New Delhi’s efforts to improve relations with that country.
India wants Pakistan and its neighbors to have friendly relations
According to the annual report, “India wants Pakistan and its neighbors to have friendly relations. India has consistently argued that any disputes should be settled bilaterally, amicably, and in an environment free of fear and violence. Pakistan is responsible for fostering such an environment. Pakistan however continues to support cross-border terrorism against India and impose restrictions on regular trade, connectivity, and interpersonal interactions “.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized both of India’s neighbors for their attempts to sabotage peace along its northern and western borders in its annual report for 2022.
“China and India’s relationship is complicated. The peace and serenity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector have been interrupted by Chinese attempts to unilaterally alter the status quo commencing in April or May 2020. The Indian armed forces have responded to these in a suitable manner “says the report.
Additionally, it said that “The external affairs minister told his counterpart that for normalcy to return, there must be peace and tranquillity in the border regions. It was also emphasized that adhering to the three mutuals—mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, and mutual interests—would benefit the India-China relationship the best. The remaining issues along the LAC are still being worked on by the two sides through diplomatic (11 meetings of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) since June 2020) and military channels (17 meetings of the Senior Highest Military Commander (SHMC) since June 2020) “.
It was also stated that Pakistan continued to spread false and hostile propaganda against India in order to draw attention away from its own domestic political and economic problems. All actions and utterances by Pakistan over issues that are solely domestic to India have been categorically and unambiguously rejected by India.
The MEA’s annual report provides a comprehensive overview of India’s foreign policy and its interactions with other countries.
The report’s criticism of Pakistan is a reflection of the relationship between the two nations, particularly in light of the terrorism situation. The MEA’s study indicates that there is little hope for improvement in the foreseeable future despite sporadic initiatives to restore ties, such as the most recent ceasefire accord along the Line of Control.
