Phone Pe acquired the micro-entrepreneur platform GigIndia for an undisclosed amount.
According to an official release, PhonePe, a digital payments network, has bought GigIndia. It is a freelancing micro-enterprise platform. PhonePe acquired it for an unknown sum.
PhonePe said it would also use GigIndia’s network of freelancing micro-entrepreneurs. That will aid corporations and businesses in attracting new customers and increasing their distribution networks.
The purchase will boost PhonePe’s services and brand value to corporate and enterprise partners. According to some projections, India’s freelancing community area would be worth $20-30 billion by 2025.
“We are pleased to welcome GigIndia’s team to PhonePe. That will help us utilize their domain experience to deliver value-added services to our enterprise partners. We will be assisting them in scaling, expanding, and growing their companies,” said Vivek Lohcheb, PhonePe’s Head of Offline Business.
