‘Ponniyin Selvan’ made history as the first Tamil film ever with a day one box office of Rs 80 crore and a two-day total of Rs 150 crore.

The Mani Ratnam-directed Tamil historical epic play “Ponniyin Selvan-1,” starring Kalki, was launched in theatres on September 30 after years of planning and daydreaming. The lengthy, five-volume novel is divided into two sections. In the movie version of the book, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan all had major roles.

This is only a small portion of the show, which also has plotlines involving Kundavai (Trisha) in Pazhayarai and Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) in Sri Lanka. In addition to Aditha Karikalan’s monologue about Nandini being memorable and Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan’s futile pick-up lines being more entertaining than sinking ships and burning forts, the meeting between Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) and Kundhavai (Trisha) is a dazzling moment in the film. The two have been loyal allies to the country, and the king is aware that they are scheming against him. How would you convey this suffering without speaking? The monarch is speaking to the traitors while receiving treatments, and the physicians are puncturing his “back” with needles.
The film’s strong performances are another factor that works in the movie’s favor greatly. Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan effortlessly steals the show, just like in the book. Karthi exceeds all expectations; he is easily appealing as a smarmy flirt while also coming across as a valiant fighter.
Ponniyin Selvan Songs And Movie parts
The music for the movie was composed by famous singer AR Rahman. The movie will be released in two parts, the second of which will be available nine months from now, according to director Mani Ratnam. It’s interesting to note that the movie’s first-day worldwide box office revenue is also more than that of Brahmastra Part One – Shiva. On Day 1, the movie directed by Ayan Mukerji achieved a worldwide gross of Rs 75 crore while Ponniyin Selvan-1 recorded 80 cr.
The movie earned Rs 70 crore at the box office on the second day of release. On October 1, the creators officially announced that the movie’s opening weekend box office receipts were Rs 80. According to reports, the movie made Rs 150 crore in just two days.
The film is expected to perform very well in theatres because of the overall positive response from the audience. One of the Tamil movies with a huge opening this year was “Ponniyin Selvan.” I feel compelled to state that the movie, with its great star cast, beautiful music, and eye-popping cinematography, is a milestone for the business.
