Bhubaneshwar: President Droupathi Murmu gave an address to the people at the Foundation Day celebration of Jnana Prabha Mission on Friday.
She addressed the mission with pride since it is named after Paramahamsa Yogananda, who was his inspiration.
Nature Friendly-life
In the oration she said about the importance of leading a healthy and nature friendly lifestyle.
She said, “Indian tradition holds that the universe is single, significant.” It is very vast and endless. A human being is a tiny part of the universe. Regardless of all our progress and inventions in science, nature is always our master. Nowhere, we could be a master of nature. In the current situation of the Earth, we should lead a nature-friendly lifestyle.”
“Though the resources of the planet are finite, human desires are unending. The modern world is witnessing unusual natural behavior, which is shown in climate change and an increase in the earth’s temperature,” she added.
The dharma of life
She also pointed out the sad stories of elderly parents left uncared for around the nation. She mentioned the slogan taught by the sages: “Mother, Father, Teacher, and Guest as God,” and she wondered if people were following these teachings.
She said, “Merely worshiping parents as God’s and praising them with their pictures is not spirituality. Care, affection and respect for parents are the most necessary factors.”
President Murmu noticed that materialistic prospects and benefits were increasing, while people’s spiritual lives were deteriorating.
The impact of Yoga
When she spoke about the Jnana Prabha Mission, which was active in establishing the program “Kriti-Yoga,” she quoted that yoga is a form of practice that is based on ancient science and spirituality. The objective of yoga is to create a healthy and happy human society.
“Yoga helps us achieve both physical and mental wellbeing.” If we live “Yog-yukt” (practice yoga in daily life), we can be “Rog-mukt” (free from diseases). In this current materialistic world, finding happiness is not so far, but many live life with a search for peace of mind. Yoga is the only way for them to find peace of mind,” she shared her views.
She even quoted that Yoga has helped her in mental and physical agony.
It is to be noted that, Murmu has experienced the deaths of her two sons and her husband in 2015 before becoming the Governor of Jharkhand. However, she did not mention any specific reasons.
In the view of our president, yoga is more than a physical activity that connects the mind, body, and soul.
After the United Nations declared June 21 to be International Yoga Day, she claimed that “the nations around the country have understood the importance of Yoga on one’s daily life.
She praised the mission for empowering women. She also quoted about women empowerment in the nation. “Empowering women is the mantra to build our country “Bishwa Guru” (World Leader),” she declared . Without women empowerment in India, we cannot reach “Bishwa Guru” as half of the population is female
She also arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two day visit to Odisha.
