The stage is all set for the Presidential elections on the 18th of July. This election is held every 5 years and the campaigns are going on in full swing for the same. The candidate from the Opposition camp is former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha and NDA is backing Droupadi Murmu in the race.
Both the contenders have been working hard for their win and traveling among states to gain the support of various political parties. To date, the majority of the political parties have announced their decision in the polls.
Which political parties are supporting Droupadi Murmu in Presidential Elections?
For now, the political parties including BJP, BJD, YSR Congress, TDP, Janta Dal (secular), Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiv Sena, JDU, AIADMK, and Lok Jan Shakti Party, will be supporting Murmu. Also, Apna Dal (Sonelal), Nishad Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Republican Party will be supporting her.
Some others on the list include India (Athawale), NPP, NPF, MNF, NDPP, SKM, AGP, PMK, AINR Congress, Jannayak Janata Party, JMM, UDP, IPFT, and UPPL in the line.
Shiv Sena will Support Murmu
The Lok Sabha MPs of Shiv Sena expressed their desire of supporting Droupadi Murmu to Party chief, Uddhav Thackery. Consequently, Shiv Sena has announced its decision to support her. But, they made it clear that the support is not in any way support to BJP.
SP’s Shivpal Yadav supports Murmu
In a surprising bid to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, his uncle and SP MLA Shivpal Yadav have announced his support to Murmu. Also, his alliance partner OP Rajbhar is supporting her in the polls. He is chief of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party. They have six MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
Opposition parties like BSP in UP, BJD in Odisha, and YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh are supporting Droupadi Murmu. This is a setback to the Opposition camp, as they plan for a consensus against the NDA. For that purpose, the selection of Yashwant Sinha as a common candidate from the Opposition camp was done.
AAP goes for Yashwant Sinha
For the Presidential Elections on Monday, AAP will be supporting Yashwant Sinha. This decision can be a step following the party’s plans for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Polls. It was suspenseful as the party kept itself away from the meetings of the Opposition on Presidential elections.
