Vivek Ramaswamy, an Indian-American candidate for president, dismissed his party rivals for attacking him after his excellent effort in the first Republican primary presidential debate last week. He claimed the “knives are out” as he is moving ahead in the race for the White House and claimed that his party opponents are targeting him because of his strong performance.
Given that Ramaswamy had never participated at a debate before and had no prior experience as an elected official, his attendance there was a victory for his candidature.
Following the debate performance, Ramaswamy’s rivals, including former vice president Mike Pence, former governors of South Carolina Nikki Haley and Chris Christie, have started to publicly and privately criticize the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur.
Ramaswamy responds to critics
On Thursday, Ramaswamy wrote on social media, “We are continuing to surge in the race, which means the knives are continuing to come out. So we’re going to keep dispelling the myths as they emerge because I think it’s important to be truthful and address criticisms.”
“That’s a part of what it signifies. You avoid the kitchen if you can’t stand the heat. I’m competing for the USA’s presidency. So, we’ll respond to any complaints as they surface, said the former businessman who is now running for president.
Ramaswamy went on to explain some of the criticism of him that has surfaced in the last few days in his social media post.
Myths and rumors
“One is this amusing, dated lie that they’re bringing back about how I made an incredible amount of money off an ineffective Alzheimer’s treatment. Wrong! The truth is that I did create a medication for Alzheimer’s, and it failed like 99.7% of all medications that have ever been assessed for the condition, or thousands of other medications. That is just reality,” he stated.
He claimed that he made money from the other five medications that his business created and that the Food and Drug Administration had all given their approval. He expressed pride in his achievements.
“That was one of the reasons I was successful in the biotech industry. That is how you actually add value and generate income without feeling guilty about it. You know what I tell young people all around this country? You will experience difficulty. Not everything you try will work out, but struggling isn’t the same as being a victim. You learn who you are through hardship, he added.
Another myth, according to Ramaswamy, is that he is in some way opposed to Israel.
He claimed, “That’s just flat-out false and shows the desperation of some other candidates who feel as though their fundraising may be lagging, so they need to figure out how to attack me as a way to raise funds.”
“They appear to be doing that. The reality is that by the conclusion of my first term, our connection with Israel will be better than it has ever been, he declared, saying that he had visited the country frequently and that one of the original investors in his company was really an Israeli corporation.
Later, in an Iowa town hall, Ramaswamy responded to a question by saying, “I’m not a party guy. I don’t like to party. Actually, I’m pushing an America first policy through the Republican Party,” he claimed.
Ramaswamy stated that he does not anticipate competing against US President Joe Biden if he is nominated, as he hopes and expects to be. He declared, “I don’t think they’ll let him run against me.”
According to Ramaswamy, who frequently comes in second in national polls, he has already begun to consider who he will appoint to his Cabinet. I do believe we have the opportunity to do in 2024 what Ronald Reagan did for this country in 1980, he said.
