Rana Daggubati will be playing the titular role in Hiranakashyap written by Trivikram Srinivas and his company Spirit Media will also be backing the film inspired by the Amar Chitra Katha comics feature about the life of the mythical demon king Hiranakashyap.
Telugu film industry star Rana Daggubati has received much acclaim for his work as an actor, being part of projects like the behemoth Baahubali franchise and Netflix show Rana Naidu but his success has also crossed over into his work as a producer and investor.
Announcement at Comic Con
Daggubati made the announcement about the movie at the San Diego Comic Con 2024, where he was part of the team to unveil the official name for Nag Ashwin’s much-awaited directorial known as ‘Project K’ which features stalwarts like Prabhas, Kamal Hasan, Amitabh Bachchanand Deepika Padukone. The official name was revealed at the event being ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’
As per a report by The Hindu, Rana further spoke about Spirit Media’s future plans, saying “We want to captivate audiences worldwide by bringing them stories that transcend boundaries and ignite the imagination.”
Rana’s Spirit Media projects
In line with the aims, Spirit Media and Weekend Blockbusters, the producers of the 2021 Malayalam superhero film “Minnal Murali,” have recently joined forces in an exciting partnership.
The main objective of this collaboration is to introduce the beloved comic character of Minnal Murali to a wider audience.
To achieve this, the superhero will now have a new home in none other than the prestigious Indian comic magazine, Tinkle.
In a noteworthy announcement, the two entertainment powerhouses revealed their plans to bring Minnal Murali’s thrilling adventures to the pages of Tinkle.
SonyLIV also unveiled “Lords of the Deccan,” a historical action-drama series created with Spirit Media, adapted from Anrirudh Kanisetti’s bestseller, “Lords of The Deccan: Southern India from Chalukyas to Cholas.”
Rana Daggubati shared the concept teaser on his Instagram as well, saying “The demon king has arrived. ???? Watch him come to life in our next project ????”
Rana has long been associated with Amar Chitra Katha. As a part of his association, Rana became a shareholder and advisor for the brand. His collaboration aimed to promote India’s rich cultural heritage and mythology through engaging storytelling.
