Apple fans anticipated the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro laptops to be launched in early November after the M2 MacBook Air was announced at this year’s Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), but that will not happen until early 2024, according to media reports.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the Cupertino-based tech giant has no immediate plans to introduce new models of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Gurman continued by saying those eager for the new Macs might have to wait until March.
The most recent M2 chip, which is essentially an upgraded version of the Apple M2 chip, and “very high-bandwidth, high-speed RAM,” are expected to be found in the new iterations of MacBook Pros, according to Gurman and renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The most recent MacBook Pro models use LPDDR5 RAM, which has a maximum bandwidth of 400 GB/s for the M1 Max and 200 GB/s for the M1 Pro. But based on this information and other previous reports, it appears that Samsung’s semiconductor business will supply the LPDDR5X RAM for the upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch models. And the RAM might increase bandwidth by as much as 33%.
In addition, the memory is anticipated to use about 20% less power, which will increase its energy efficiency. Therefore, in addition to perhaps being speedier, the reported new MacBook Pros may also have a longer battery life, but we assume that would depend largely on the jobs customers are performing.
It’s likely that the M2 processor will also be added to the upcoming Mac mini.
The production of the new 14″ and 16″ Laptops with new processors will start in 4Q22.
The processors in the 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models may still use the 5nm advanced node, according to TSMC’s forecast, Kuo had earlier tweeted in August.
Last year, the manufacturer of the iPhone updated the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 with a new design, a notch on the screen, and M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs. With this direction, the company might also make design modifications.
