New Delhi: A former IB officer Kailash Kumar Das, 60, has been arrested from Vasant Kunj’s park for raping a minor girl on March 7. Das lived as a vagabond to evade the arrest, since, he got to know that an FIR has been registered against him somehow. He has served as an assistant central intelligence officer (ACIO) during his service years, a designation equivalent to sub-inspector. He reportedly got an extension of two years for his service.
The accused, Das had manipulated the survivor’s father so that he can get his daughter a suitable job using his reference. Since, Das was a long-time family friend’ of the survivor’s family, trusting in his words, the minor’s father allowed his daughter to visit him. The father left his minor daughter with Das nearby Moti Bagh Metro Station on 7th March 2022. Das lured the girl and took her to a hotel in Karol Bagh, where he sexually assaulted her. The minor later told everything to her father and a case has been registered against Das.
A non-bailable warrant has been registered against Kailash Kumar Das. As per the FIR, under the Indian Penal Code sections 376, 506, and POCSO Act has been registered against him for rape and criminal intimidation. He even applied for anticipatory bail in the High court but his appeal was rejected. Several raids have been done to arrest him at his allotted government residence in RK Puram and his permanent home in Uttam Nagar. He has absconded for more than a month.
Das was successful in befooling the police officers by using his learned techniques in IB. He was living as a nomad. He changed his appearances frequently to evade the arrest. He stayed in Chattarpur Temple during Navratri and admitted himself as a patient in Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. He never stayed at hotels or guesthouses.
During his search, police found that Das has approximately changed 18 mobile equipment and used three alternative numbers.
Lastly, on May 4, he was arrested from a Vasant Kunj’s park. A team formed working under ACP (Karol Bagh) has completed the operation.
