Since revealing her pregnancy with A$AP Rocky in January, Rihanna has been unrepentant in her bright, fashion-forward maternity ensembles. She is now the cover star of American Vogue’s May issue, wearing a flaming red lace bodysuit and matching Alaïa gloves. Rihanna could give birth at any time, and she will do so in a grand fashion. She spoke extensively in the interview about her pregnancy style and how she plans to dress her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Since announcing her pregnancy in January, the Bad Gal hasn’t been shy about wearing crop tops, low-slung trousers, revealing gowns, and miniskirts. In March, she attended Paris Fashion Week wearing a slew of show-stopping ensembles, including a fully sheer Dior baby doll dress with nothing underneath except a black thong. The diva opened out in an accompanying interview with the magazine about her tumultuous few months and why she’s been accentuating her figure rather than hiding it. She stated, that when she found out she was pregnant, she thought to herself, “There’s no way she was going to go shopping in a maternity aisle.” I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up, “she told Vogue. Because of the changes her body is going through, she is not going to let that part disappear. She also mentioned in the interview that she believes she can now say yes to more things because she knows things will be different on the other side of this. She had hoped for a miraculous transformation but remained unchanged. None of the dials have been lowered. Rihanna stole the show for the entirety of fashion month, arriving at the Gucci show in Milan wearing a latex crop top and an oversized purple fur coat, followed by Dior in Paris in a sheer black lace slip and knee-high patent leather boots. The spread, which follows her 2011 American Vogue debut, also features the soon-to-be mother wearing Marc Jacobs, Manolo Blahnik heels, Rick Owens, Jean PaulJean-Paul, and, of course, Savage X Fenty. While the 34-year-old superstar is a well-known fashion icon, Rihanna told Vogue that she and boyfriend A$AP Rocky are equally yoked in the style department, describing their style as “iron sharpening iron.
