Rohitâs statement
Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly recovering from a serious injury and may play in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. However, captain Rohit Sharma has almost ruled out his comeback, urging patience as he recovers from an injury.
Rohit Sharma hopes Jasprit Bumrah can get playing time before the ODI World Cup in October, as he missed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and the Indian Premier League 2024.
Bumrah’s expertise and time on the team were highlighted by Rohit. Bumrah has been expected to participate in the Ireland T20Is after an extensive injury.
Before the World Cup, Rohit intended to give him as many opportunities to play. He continued with remarks that the more beneficial it is for the team and himself, the more he plays. On Bumrah’s health, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released updates.
Rohit spoke about the need for backups and the injury issues the Indian team has in their ODI lineup. He emphasised the players who will participate in the World Cup and highlighted the importance of having experience in major competitions. He also stressed the significance of concentrating on the other 15-20 players considering injuries can happen to anyone. On Thursday at Kensington Oval, the first of the three one-day internationals versus the West Indies will take place.
Complications with injuries for Bumrah
Bumrah missed the 2022 Asia Cup because of a stress reaction in his lower back, which also prevented him from competing in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He was initially included in the squad for a series of ODIs against Sri Lanka but was later removed due to back discomfort. He was also disqualified from the 2024 IPL, the four-match Test series against Australia, and the World Tennis Championship final.
BCCI on injured playerâs recovery
The Indian team is eagerly anticipating the return of injured players like KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah, who are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA. Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have been bowling in the nets as part of their last stages of rehabilitation, in accordance with a BCCI announcement.
The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their development and will make a judgement once they have been evaluated following training matches. The two fast bowlers will play in practice matches that the NCA will arrange.
KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are currently engaged in strength and conditioning exercises in addition to their return to net batting. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and intends to gradually build up their level of ability, strength, and conditioning over the following few days. Pant, who was sidelined following a vehicle accident, is now keeping and batting in the nets and has made considerable strides in his recovery.
He is currently engaging in a strength, flexibility, and running-based training regimen.
Since he hasn’t played competitive cricket since September 2022 and has been receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) since April, Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback to Indian cricket is a huge issue. One of the best of his generation is generally thought of as Bumrah. Bumrah’s condition must be stable for both the forthcoming three-match T20I series in Ireland and the 2024 ODI World Cup for India.Â
Bumrahâs Instagram post left his fans elated
Bumrah posted a video montage of himself in the NCA nets with the song “I’m Coming Home” by Diddy-Dirty Money playing in the background to confirm his selection to the team. Additionally, he tagged the BCCI’s Instagram account.
Bumrah’s availability for the Ireland series was a subject of conjecture when videos of him bowling in the nets went viral. The World Cup planning and discussions on Bumrah’s fitness will take place during Ajit Agarkar’s visit to the West Indies.
