The role of the activists who were part of the Social Democratic Party of India, the political offshoot of the Popular Front of India, is suspected in the incident. They said that a Rashtriya Swayamesevak Sangh (RSS) worker was hacked to death in front of his wife at around 9 AM when he was taking her to her place of work.
Investigation process
An investigation has been made to trace the accused who fled the scene after the incident, they said. The Bharatiya Janta Party alleged that the assailants followed Sanjith, hailing from Elappully, in a vehicle, hit his two-wheeler, and when he fell, they hacked him to death in front of his wife. Condemning the killing of the RSS worker, Bharatiya Janta Party state president K Surendran alleged it was a “planned murder” and blamed the failure of the police and state government in occurring such incidents in the state.

Palakkad superintendent of police R Viswananadh said a special investigation team had been constituted to probe the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker (RSS) named Sanjith. The murder appeared to be linked to tension between Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and SDPI workers. A member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is informed to be repeatedly stabbed to death allegedly by workers of the Social Democratic Front of India (SDPI), the political wing of the political wing the Popular Front of India, in Elapully in Palakkad on Monday, police said.
On Monday morning, the murder occurred when 27 years old A Sanjith was travelling with his wife on a two-wheeler. The assailants, who were also in a car, first rammed the motorcycle, and when both fell on the road, they got out and repeatedly stabbed him in front of his wife. Sanjith died on the way to the hospital. His wife also suffered minor injuries in the fallout. Palakkad superintendent of police R Viswanath said a special investigation team had been constituted, and police have all information regarding the assailants.
Reason for the murder
He said the murder may have appeared to be a fallout of tension prevailing in the area between local Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and SDPI workers. Police suspect that assailants went to the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu after the murder. Bharatiya Janta Party district president Mr K.M.Haridas mentioned it to be a was a well-planned political murder. He said that an attempt was made on Sanjith’s life in June last year.
Bharatiya Janta Party state president K Surendran has condemned the murder and sought strict action against preparators of the crime. “Police are too soft on SDPI goons who have been carrying out cold-blooded murders. If culprits are not arrested immediately, the party will launch an agitation,” he said in state capital Thiruvananthapuram.
How the murder was done
Opposition leader VD Satheesan also condemned the murder. Speaking to the media, Palakkad Bharatiya Janta Party district president K M Haridas said, ” Sanjith was going with his wife when he was stopped and brutally attacked. The SDPI in the state has got the ruling party’s backing,” he alleged. While the Bharatiya Janta Party has detected SDPI’s hand behind the murder, a policeman of Palakkad south station told TNM that a political attempt in the crime was being investigated. ”
There were five men in the gang who conducted the murder and they came in a white car. They hacked Sanjith while he was on his way to drop off his wife. All the five are absconding,” he said. The Palakkad Superintendent of police Debesh Behera noted that it looked like a political murder at the primary face.
