According to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the world during the Ukraine crises is arguably more dangerous than during the Cold War. Guterres warned that a minor blunder or misunderstanding between great nations might have disastrous consequences.Â
Some procedures permitted the protagonists to analyze risks and employ back-channels to prevent crises during the decades-long standoff between the Soviet Union and the United States in the twentieth century,” Guterres said. “Many of those systems are no longer in use, and the majority of the people who were taught to utilize them are no longer with us.” Â
US President Joe Biden also warned that Russia’s Vladimir Putin has chosen to invade Ukraine within days, after rebels supported by Moscow instructed residents to leave the breakaway territory on buses, a move the West thinks is a pretext for an invasion.Â
“We have reason to believe the Russian forces are planning to and intend to attack Ukraine in the coming week, in the coming days,” said Biden at the White House, adding that Kyiv would be a target.Â
Russian special troops had planted explosives at social infrastructure institutions in Donetsk, Ukraine’s military intelligence warned late Friday, urging civilians to stay at home. A request for comment from the Russian Federal Security Service was not immediately returned.Â
