Jennifer Mistry Bansiwala, of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame, filed FIR against the show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi over sexual molestation.

Asit Modi booked for Molestation by Mistry
The Powai Police lodged a case against the iconic TV serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi, the show’s operation head Sohail Ramani and the executive producer of the serial Jatin Bajaj on the eve of 19th June 2024.
Actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwala, who portrays the character of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the show, has held the trio culpable for sexually and mentally harassing her. The police have booked them under IPC’s sections 354 and 509. Following the filing of the FIR, a relieved Jennifer remarks that her ‘faith in the justice system’ had been restored.
She had been summoned to the Police Station on 19th June at 7:30 pm and left the facility after registering the FIR, which took almost 5 hours!
“Relieved But Not Happy…” says Jennifer Mistry
Talking to the media, the TMKOC star says that she feels relieved that at least some action has been taken after much deferment. She has entrusted the entire process in the hands of law and hopes that the deliverance of justice will ameliorate the matter.
However, She admits that she is not entirely happy because this wasn’t the way she would have preferred things to unfold. She never wanted any kind of malice among her work family.
The War Between Mistry and Modi
On 24 May, Mistry raised her voice against the molestations she had to endure from the show’s makers. She became the first one to speak out against the sexual attacks inflicted by the makers and was later supported by other actors including Monika Bhadoriya, Priya Ahuja, and Malav Rajda.
Asit Modi used to make vulgar comments about her like ‘Tumhare month bohot achche hain.’. Moreover, Modi also invited her to his room for ‘drinks.’
Ensuring the complaint, the speed of the proceedings slugged, much to the actress’ annoyance, owing to the blame games played by the accused.
Asit Modi and his accomplices refuted all allegations and in their defence, asserted that they always maintained a father-figure-like persona on the sets and regarded all cast/crew members as a part of their family.
They further argued that Jennifer was an alcohol addict and upon getting drunk, she used to wallop her fellow male cast members and cause mayhem.

Hearing these claims, Jennifer astoundedly replied, “Can you imagine me fighting with males?” She confessed that she did drink occasionally but repudiated all other accusations against her as made-up tales.
The hostility does not end just here. Roshan Singh Sodhi’s character was played by Jennifer for an extensive period, but she quit the show due to sexual harassment and was replaced by Dilkhush Reporter.
Soon, Jennifer re-entered the show as Roshan as Dilkhush went on maternity leave. Furthermore, Asit Modi proclaims that Mistry used Dilkhush’s pregnancy to her advantage and paved her way into the show again.
Jennifer rebuts by quipping “Okay, then why did you take me again?” She maintains that she shared an amicable bond with Dilkhush and expresses her contempt over the producer’s absurd statement.
Jennifer’s Reaction to the FIR
The 44-year-old shares that she wants to avoid the ramifications of this conflict between her and the producer and just wants to settle the controversy without creating much drama and ruction.

She has no interest in dragging the issues and wishes things to end peacefully if Modi, Ramani and Bajaj apologise to her and take accountability for their actions. However, she is well equipped with proper proof if things are taken to court.
‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is one of India’s longest-running and most loved shows. The cast of the serial has long since become household names.
