Separate lanes for Ambulance should be made in order to save lives. In the days leading up to Diwali, Delhi has been experiencing a mad rush that has caused miles-long traffic congestion on main highways.

The Delhi Traffic Police posted a message on Twitter warning commuters to stay off of specific roads that might be blocked or clogged on Saturday morning owing to “special arrangements.”

Introduction:

In order to facilitate the smooth movement of ambulances in an emergency, the Delhi government plans to allocate lanes for them. People don’t usually give space to the Ambulance; they are always in a hurry to head to their home, offices or any other place.

It is very important for them to realize the Importance of giving space to the Ambulance. Every second is important for the person who is lying in the Ambulance.

Being concerned about ambulances backed up in traffic is a noble sentiment. The ideas keep coming, from technology-driven solutions that would turn every signal green as the car approaches a junction to special lanes for ambulances.

The Madras High Court ordered the government to properly maintain the toll road, ordering that toll plazas throughout the state have a dedicated lane in each direction for ambulances and vehicles that are exempt from paying.

PROS OF HAVING A SEPARATE LANE FOR AMBULANCES:

1) Ambulances will reach on time.
2) A patient’s life can be saved.
3) People will be less stressed and will believe in the systems of the Government.

CONS OF HAVING A SEPARATE LANE FOR AMBULANCES:

1) Misuse on routine duty could be seen and people are definitely going to misuse this kind of power.
2) Empty ambulances will start blaring sirens in order to get off as soon as possible, even if it’s not an emergency.
3) Higher authority might misuse this power.
4) Typically, timing mechanisms used in traffic signal systems cause the light to change after a certain amount of time. As a result, the automated traffic signal release system will help control traffic jams and save time waiting for the traffic lights to change.

WHY DO WE NEED TO MAKE SPACE FOR AMBULANCE ON THE ROAD?

Due to growing urban traffic congestion, the average amount of time it takes an ambulance to arrive at a hospital is growing yearly. Every individual has a duty to give way to ambulances since they are essential to save patients in an emergency.

Until the emergency vehicle or vehicles have passed, halt driving at the right edge of the road. But avoid stopping at intersections.

Save life, so that it can rapidly reach the scene and attend to those who are ill or hurt.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE IN SAVING A LIFE:

Check your mirrors if you hear sirens or see an ambulance’s blue light. When an emergency vehicle is approaching you, it’s not always evident where it is. Keep an eye out for blue flashing lights behind you and for approaching tail lights. If unsure, slow down and stop.

Allow the emergency service vehicle to enter and traverse the roundabout if you are approaching one.

The right lane should be left open for the ambulance to accelerate into it as the left lane car should slow down to create room for the right lane vehicle to safely approach the left lane.

Turn in the closest lane and wait for the emergency vehicle to pass by if you don’t think there is enough room to stop.
