A seven-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and molested by an unknown man near Pune railway premises. Police have launched a search operation based on a sketch of the unknown accused.

The 7-year-old child went to the Railway Station to deliver lunch to her father, where she was kidnapped and molested by an unknown suspect. The investigation is ongoing and police have initiated a search operation based on a sketch.
The matter was reported to Bundgarden Police Station, Pune by the victim’s father. According to the filed complaint, the suspect kidnapped the child on Monday afternoon near the Pune railway station and molested her sexually. He also threatened the child and is suspected of additional crimes.
The offense falls under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
The Monday incident took place when the girl was on her way back home from the railway station. According to the police report, the girl’s father runs a tea stall.
The alleged molester kidnapped the girl and took her to an enclosed area near platform 6, by a construction office. As the terrified child started screaming for help, the man threatened to kill her.
The Charges
The minor escaped from the area after a while and managed to save her life. On reaching home from the station, she told her parents about the whole incident who then decided to file a complaint.
An FIR was filed at the Bundgarden police station. According to Pratap Mankar, senior inspector, police are following multiple leads and are trying to identify the accused from a prepared sketch.
Police have also developed leads from CCTV footage of the railway premises and surrounding areas. Charges of kidnapping, molestation, and child intimidation have been invoked by police against the alleged molester under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Similar incidents of this nature have been reported earlier near the Pune railway station. A 14-year-old minor was kidnapped and gang-raped by eight men, two of them being railway employees.
Another incident reported the abduction and rape of a 6-year-old from the footpath in the same area. Several cases have been reported in the past years raising the issue of safety once again for women and minors.
