Shah Rukh Khan becomes the owner of the Women’s cricket team and shares excitement on Twitter.
The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) which is owned by IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have confirmed the presence of their women’s team which now, Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan owns.
Indian Premier League franchise and two-time champions KKR team have announced their first-ever women’s team and TKR will be one of the founding members of the inaugural season of the Women Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) which will take place later this year.
According to the sources, the WCPL is set to start on August 30, the same time as Men’s CPL will take place. The first-ever season of the league has three teams. TKR, Barbados Royals (BR), and Guyana Amazon Warriors (GWR) will take part in the Women’s franchise T20 league.
King Khan was delighted at the announcement of KKR’s first-ever women’s team as Trinbago Knight Riders will be one of three teams to take part in Women’s CPL this year. Also, the 2022 season will be the first edition of the CPL’s women’s league.
The actor shared his happiness on his social media account “This is such a happy moment for all of us at @KKRiders @ADKRiders & of course, the lovely set of people at @TKRiders. Hope I can make it there to see this live!!” wrote Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh co-owns the Knight Riders Group with actress Juhi Chawla. They co-own three teams together – Kolkata Knight Riders, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, and Los Angeles Knight Riders.
Women’s IPL looking likely as the BCCI secretary Jay Shah openly spoke about plans about the same in a recent interview, it remains to be seen if KKR expand their array of sports teams and invest in a homegrown women’s cricket team.
