Alleging corrupt practices, discrimination against a Dalit and inconsistent transfers within the departments have caused chaos in UP.

Lucknow: All is not well in Uttar Pradesh. Capturing a reverse of fortune for the Bulldozer Baba government, UP’s Minister of Jalshakti Dinesh Khatik resigned, accusing that he was sidelined by the government because he was a Dalit.
Reportedly, the Uttar Pradesh government though keeping a united front is struggling from within. It was not long ago that CM Yogi Adityanath won the polls and was chosen for the second tenure as the CM but it seems like the charismatic CM has lost his fortune.
These conjectures began when a letter went viral on social media. To quote him from the letter, “I was not given any importance because I am a Dalit. My working as a minister of state is a waste for the Dalit community. I am not called for any meeting and not told anything about my ministry.”
When asked about it Mr. Khatik has refused any such claims, asserting that all’s indeed well in UP. He said, “There is no such issue.” Khatik is a two-time legislator and was inducted by CM Adityanath to his post last year.
However, sources close to the minister hinted that he is on his way to Delhi to meet leaders of the party. Moreover, Jatin Prasada, Public Works Department Minister had also visited the party leaders in Delhi over dissatisfaction within the Adityanath government. However, he too clarified that he wasn’t upset.
“No question of being upset. Working under UP CM’s leadership to meet people’s expectations. As far as meeting central leaders is concerned, we can meet them whenever we get time. But I’ve no thoughts of meeting them as of now,” he said.
The PWD was handed over to Prasada who has come under the scrutiny of the government for practising corruption. As reported a few days ago, the Chief Minister’s Office has ordered an investigation into the matter.

Other Allegations:
Mr Khatik said that he resigned because he was hurt. Exemplifying his situation, he said that when he sought information on transfers but did not get a response despite speaking to the top officials of the government.
“When I sought clarification, my phone was bluntly disconnected midway through the conversation and this is a big insult,” he added, accusing the top official in the irrigation department of insulting him and Dalits.
He also alleged that the Namami Gange scheme was permeating corruption and so were the departmental transfers and posting. “This can be independently investigated by any agency,” he claimed.
He further claimed that he had not been assigned work for 100 days. This is, however, not the first time that this is happening. He threatened to resign last year over the reluctance of the police to act on his orders in a case involving a trader in Meerut.
Khatik, a two-time legislator, was inducted by CM Adityanath to his post in September last year. Khatik’s senior minister Swatantra Dev Singh, who is also the state BJP chief, had earlier shot down rumours that he was unhappy, Hindustan Times reported. “I talk to him daily,” said Singh.
Opposition Takes a Jab:
Like a thirsty man with an oasis in sight, the Opposition in Uttar Pradesh has happily picked up the opportunity to prove the incapacity of the current regime.
“Understand the chronology of corruption and misgovernance in the UP BJP government: First rebellion in the Ministry of Public Works Department; then rebellion in the Ministry of Health; now rebellion in the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The public is asking, the BJP government of UP should tell honestly… now whose turn is it next?” he tweeted in Hindi.
The All India Trinamool Congress has also blamed the situation on PM Modi, saying that his true colours are reflected as Dalits are deserted.
