Days after BJP leader and actor Sonali Phogat was found dead in her hotel room in Goa, her nephews allege that her aide, Sudhir Pal Sangwan, tried to poison her in the past and was eying property.
Sonali’s nephews, Sachin Phogat and Vikas Singhmar alleged, “Sudhir was trying to put Sonali on drugs for quite some time. He had also given her spiked pudding two months before she died. He was eyeing her property.”
Their statements came just after Goa CM Pramod Sawant said his Haryana compeer had been informed of the investigation into Sonali’s death and a confidential report had been sent to the Director General of Police, Haryana.
DGP Goa Jaspal Singh has handed over a five to six-page investigation report to CM Sawant on the Sonali Phogat death case.Â
CM Sawant reiterated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would be involved if the need arises.
Phogat, 42, rose to fame on TikTok. She participated in the television reality show Bigg Boss season 14. She was found dead on August 23, in mysterious circumstances with blunt force trauma on her body.
The nephews allege that Sudhir had captured Sonali’s Gurgaon farmhouse and transferred it to his name.
They also claimed that the family of Sonali was not informed about her visit to Goa.
Her family said that she was first taken to Chandigarh, from where they got a flight to Goa. Sonali Phogat’s official guard was asked to stay at her Gurgaon flat.Â
Sangwan removed most of the staff that worked with Sonali and had appointed his people, the nephews alleged.
Sonali Phogat’s aide Sangwan
They said Sudhir Pal Sangwan originally comes from Jind and had a difficult relationship with his wife, who lived in Rohtak.
Sonali’s kin said Sangwan was also a bank defaulter and was also disowned by his family. He introduced himself as an NRI businessman, they said.
A Goa Police team investigating the suspicious death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat is expected to reach Hisar today.
Goa Police have called Sonali’s brother-in-law, Kuldeep Phogat. The police informed Kuldeep that they would take the arrested aides to Sonali’s Hisar farmhouse and later take them to her Sant Nagar residence.
