Sudden Cardiac related deaths in India has become a major cause of concern among the people due to the recent surge in the number of such cases and videos going viral of people collapsing while working out and dancing.
In recent years many young celebrities passed away from heart attacks, such as Actor Sidharth Shukla, Singer KK, Comedian Raju Srivastava, etc.
A video of a 40 year old collapsing while dancing at his nephew’s wedding has gone viral on the internet leaving the masses in shock at how the man recognized as Manoj Vishwakarma, passed away only a few minutes after collapsing while grooving with his family members at his nephew’s wedding in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on November 25th.
Many such videos of started coming up in the recent times of young and middle aged people collapsing and passing away suddenly, during the Navratri season a lot of people were seen dropping dead while dancing after suffering cardiac arrests, while some videos also showed people suffering Cardiac arrests while sitting in one place.
Doctors and researchers have observed that the high levels of stress, unhealthy lifestyle, high intake of sugar-salts-fat, smoking and alcohol are some of the major reasons that could result in cardiovascular disease.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. The number rose to 68% in the last two decades of deaths due to CVD in India. Comparatively men are more prone to CVD related deaths than women and is more prevalent among the age group of 35 – 40 years. Recently many young people are being diagnosed with heart ailments, which the doctors say is due to the unhealthy lifestyle of young people in India.
Causes, factors and prevention
Lack of sleep, lack of exercise, obesity, working while sitting in one place for too long, unbalanced diet, alcohol and smoking; along with stress and hypertension are the major factors.

Fitness trainers have said that most cases being reported at the gyms are of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is asymptomatic and people are mostly unaware of the existence of a heart ailment, which could be triggered and result in death even from a slight to any intense activity.
