Sunny; a Mollywood one-person show movie starred by Jayasurya, streaming on Amazon Prime.
Malayalam actor Jayasurya’s hundredth film, Sunny released on OTT platform Amazon Prime on 23rd September.
The speciality of the movie is that the entire plot plays with a single character Sunny played by Jayasurya. The film used the voice of some famous actors but did not reveal their faces throughout the movie.
From the beginning till the end, the film expresses the emotions of the title character. In between scenes showed two people, but with masks and PPEs. Thus, we can say it was a one-person show.

Story Plot
Sunny, a lonely man who returns from Dubai to his native, Kerala, due to financial and personal issues, in the pandemic time, stays in a luxurious hotel for quarantine.
How could a lonely, depressant and alcohol-dependent man spend his quarantine days in a big hotel room? The film focuses on this lonely man with suicidal thoughts spending his quarantine days to overcome his mental stress.
The movie starts with Sunny going to the hotel Grand Hyatt in the taxi, burning his passport and throwing it out through the window. This beginning scene itself depicted the problems he was facing in his life.
The movie also shows how rebellious he became when he didn’t get alcohol and how the Psychiatrist and a woman above flat, Aditi, helped him overcome his suicidal thoughts and bring positiveness to his life.
His love and passion towards music, and the sorrow of not succeeding with his love, kill him mentally. Sunny was drowning in the sorrows of his marriage falling apart, his financial issues, and thoughts of his dead daughter.
Spoiler Alert
The sudden demise of Dr Eerali, leaving Aditi later she tested negative of COVID- 19, again brought Sunny to solitude. Then came the result of his RTPCR Covid test, which shows positive.
The movie ends with the scene of Sunny in an Ambulance were taken to hospital, with the call of hope from his wife.
The movie ends with some hope for Sunny, as his advocate finds a way to solve his financial crisis and also, he was blessed with a baby boy. Nimmy’s word that his son and his wife are waiting for him gives a better hope for Sunny’s life.
Review and Rating
The movie has an IMDb rating of 6.8 out of 10. As it gives a new experience of the Covid pandemic, it feels good.
But the movie seems to end in a hurry, and the story can add a lot more to enhance it. It depicts the reality of the pandemic situation, thus is worthy of watching it.
