Former media executive and an accused killer of her daughter Sheena Bora in the year 2012, Indrani Mukerjea Will be released on bail set by the Supreme Court today.
In their order, the Supreme Court said, “we are granting bail to Indrani Mukerjea. 6.5 years is too long a time.” The accused has been in jail since 2015, she approached the Supreme Court in February after being denied bail rapidly by a special CBI court.
The Supreme Court now decided to lower her sentence as she had already spent a long time in prison and thus bail was granted to her on the condition that she will not be allowed to leave the country and will not be having any contact with the Witnesses.
The former media executive is accused of killing her daughter from her first marriage along with 2 men who are accused of helping her do the heinous crime, one of them is her driver Shyamvar Rai and another is her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna.
The investigators who investigated the case said that Indrani was angry with her daughter’s relationship with Rahul Mukerjea Who is Peter Makerjea’s son from an earlier marriage.
Her daughter Sheena Bora 25 at the time of her death was missing for around 3 years after her murder, Indrani told her friend that Sheena had moved to the USA. Later her half-burned body was dug up from a forest near Mumbai. after which her driver was arrested in a separate case in which he gave a statement to the police and alleged that Sheena Bora was strangled by her mother inside a car.
The CBI recently told the court in Mumbai that the investigation into the 2012 murder of Sheena Bora was over. At the beginning of the year, Indrani claimed her daughter Sheena was seen alive by a fellow prisoner in Srinagar, but her claims were rubbish as one of the CBI investigators said it was a fragment of her imagination and is next to impossible.
